Open to individuals who would like to invest $100 (plus processing fee of approx. $8) to help make the 2026 NC Fossil Fest a success. Meeting our goal of $10,000 will greatly help offset the costs incurred to put on the largest STEM-focused event in North Carolina and the largest fossil festival in the United States.
Friends will be recognized before, during, and after the NC Fossil Festival through signage, social media, and on the NCFF website.

- Food Vendors should be prepared to serve a high volume of people.
- Food vendors may sell soft drinks and other non-alcoholic beverages.
- Food Vendors must abide by NC Health guidelines and will be inspected before opening. For more information, please get in touch with the Beaufort County Health Department at 252-946-1902.
- Food Vendors are subject to Fire Marshall regulations.
- Food Vendors must keep their area free of grease splashes, spills, and/or any grease containers.
- Grease disposal and clean-up are the responsibility of the Food Vendor.
- Food Vendors must keep their area free of trash or any other items on the ground.
- Trash must be disposed of properly in the appropriate trash cans.
All vendors are personally responsible for collecting, reporting, and remitting sales tax as required by the North Carolina Department of Revenue. The North Carolina Fossil Festival and the Aurora Fossil Museum Foundation, Inc. assume no responsibility regarding vendors’ collection, reporting, and remittance of sales tax for sales during the North Carolina Fossil Festival.

No stakes may be driven into asphalt or hard paved surfaces. All tents, coverings, and booth areas will be inspected for safety before the event’s opening.

Arts & Crafts Vendor Booth Space
Categories: Artists may apply for up to three categories, BUT you MUST submit a separate application for each category.
If you sell jewelry, you may apply in a category other than Jewelry if the jewelry is less than 10% of your items for sale. Otherwise, you must apply to Jewelry.
All work displayed in your booth must be for sale.
Clay: Original clay and porcelain work, functional or sculptural.
Fiber: Includes wearable and non-wearable. No machine-tooled, machine-screen printing, or other forms of mass production are accepted.
Glass: Functional and sculptural work is accepted. Kiln forming, blowing, molding, casting, and all cold working processes are permitted.
Jewelry: Only those artists accepted in the jewelry category may display or sell jewelry. Items made from commercial parts are not permitted.
Metal: Sculptural or decorative work made from metal. No jewelry will be accepted in this category.
Mixed Media: Work that combines materials from two or more media in one piece.
Musical Instruments: Handmade instruments only.
Natural Materials: This includes basket weaving, chair caning, brooms, gourds, and other works made from materials found in nature.
Photography: Includes traditional film photography, hand-colored images, emulsion transfers, and digital photography. Only the artist’s original source material is acceptable.
Printmaking: Only hand-pulled original prints are allowed. Prints must be in limited editions, signed, and numbered.
Sculpture: Three-dimensional work using additive or subtractive processes in a single medium.
Two-Dimensional: Drawing, painting, and digital works. Reproduction prints are not allowed.
Wood: Original works hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned, or carved.

Spaces available for Merchandise Vendors. This category is limited to ONE vendor representing a particular re-sale business, commonly referred to as “network marketing”.

Set Up Volunteers will help with the following:
— Arrange tables, chairs, and tents in their respective places
— Placing signage and hanging banners
— Assist with other tasks that will prepare the festival for the rest of the weekend

Paleo Zone Volunteers Should:
— Work outdoors to greet festival attendees and direct them to the Paleo Zone
— Assist displayers with unloading, setup, take-down, and loading of their exhibits
— Relieve displayers for lunch and short breaks
— Monitor building and restrooms to ensure cleanliness and orderliness
— Assist with fossil identification
— Assist festival attendees with the event map and schedule of events/activities

On Monday morning, the Aurora Fossil Museum will host a Veterans & First Responders Appreciation Breakfast for community members who have served and continue to serve our country and the Aurora Community.
Veterans’ & First Responders’ Crew will help with the following:
— Sunday afternoon preparation, including pre-breakfast setup and decorating of the Aurora Community Center for the Monday morning breakfast.
— Monday morning preparations and assistance with breakfast.
— Clean up and ensure all tables, chairs, decorations, and other related items are taken down.

STEAM Zone
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The Aurora Fossil Museum invites your non-profit organization to participate in the very popular STEAM Zone component of the North Carolina Fossil Festival.
Kid Zone
The Aurora Fossil Museum invites your organization to participate in the growing KID Zone component of the North Carolina Fossil Festival.
This key component of the festival provides a space for our younger attendees and their families to participate in hands-on, interactive activities in a safe and confined area. We would be delighted to have your participation as we explore ways to expand this component. No application fee is required, just a willingness to share your time, talents, and resources with festival participants!
Tables, chairs, refreshments, and lunch will be provided. This year, the Kid Zone will be in the well-maintained lot at the corner of Main and Third Streets.
Organizations will need to be set up by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, with take-down beginning at 5:00 p.m. Afterwards, please plan to stick around, sit back, relax, and enjoy the live music and the festival.
Paleo Zone
The Aurora Fossil Museum invites you to share your fossil collection in the very popular PALEO Zone component of the North Carolina Fossil Festival.
This key educational component of the festival offers a platform for fossil collectors and paleontologists to engage with the public and educate them about North Carolina’s unique and vast fossil record. No application fee is required, just a willingness to share your knowledge and collection with festival participants.
NO SELLING WILL OCCUR IN THE PALEO ZONE. If you would like to sell items, please apply to be a Fossil & Mineral Vendor.
Tables, chairs, and lunch will be provided. This year, the PALEO Zone will be located inside and on the grounds of the Aurora Community Center.
PALEO Zone organizations will need to be set up by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, with take-down to begin at 5:00 p.m. Afterwards, please plan to stay and enjoy the live music and the festival.
Jurassic Classic
The Jurassic Classic is an annual fundraising event hosted by Flythe’s Bike Shop.
It’s back! We’re having our bicycle ride at the North Carolina Fossil Festival!
We will depart at 9:30 AM on Saturday, May 24th, for a 38-mile ride through the local area and countryside.
When we return, please enjoy all the activities at the Festival. There will be plenty to do! Find sharks teeth in the fossil pits, visit the Aurora Fossil Museum, check out the live music, and enjoy the various food options provided by the vendors.
Meeting spot to be determined.
Proceeds from the Jurassic Classic benefit the nonprofit Aurora Fossil Museum.

NC Fossil Fest 5K Run
The NC Fossil Fest 5k Run will take place on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 8:00 am.
The Virtual 5K will end May 31st 2026.
